Essential Skills for Hospital Administration Graduates Based on Hospital Needs in Indonesia

Introduction: The increasing number of hospitals necessitates the availability of high-quality human resources with strong knowledge in hospital management. Hospital administrative staff are expected to contribute to improving the quality of healthcare service management. Therefore, educational institutions must ensure the quality of their graduates by aligning their competencies with hospital needs. Research Objectives: This study aims to identify the skills required by hospitals for graduates of the Bachelor’s degree program in Hospital Administration. Research Methods: This is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 56 healthcare practitioners working in hospitals, community health centers (Puskesmas), and clinics. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Research Results: A total of 83,9 % of respondents reported a need for graduates of the Hospital Administration Bachelor’s program in their workplace. The essential skills identified include leadership and governance, financial management, human resource management, quality improvement and patient safety, information technology, and healthcare systems. Conclusions: There are 38 specific skills required by healthcare facilities from graduates of hospital administration programs.
