Abstract

Poor nutritional behavior among students is reflected in the high prevalence of snacking and the consumption of unhealthy foods, such as the selection of less healthy and unsafe meals. This behavior increases the risk of health problems. This study aims to examine the relationship between nutritional knowledge, exposure to social media advertisements, and peer group support on healthy food choices among adolescents at SMAN 9 Tangerang. This research utilized a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 88 students were selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire as the measurement tool. Univariate and bivariate analyses were conducted, with the chi-square test used for statistical evaluation. The results revealed no significant relationship between nutritional knowledge (p = 0.696) and social media advertisement exposure (p = 0.656) with healthy food choices. However, peer group support showed a marginally significant relationship (p = 0.052). Schools are encouraged to enhance nutrition education and provide healthy canteens to support adolescents in making healthier food choices.
